10. But it is charming and amusing to see these bunch of students from U Chicago who have decided to move the Onion Overton window with their (mass?) mobilization outside the CME this week. instagram.com/reel/Desd3z7Tu_Q/

Overheard on Wall Street on Instagram: "They have stolen our dreams ******* Onions are the only agricultural commodity that can't legally be traded as futures in the US, and a group of UChicago students is campaigning to change that. In 1955, onion farmer Vincent Kosuga and his partner Sam Siegel cornered the Chicago onion market, acquiring nearly every futures contract and most of the country's physical supply. They drove prices up, then flooded the market, at one point pushing the price of a 50 lb bag below the cost of the sack itself. Following pressure from growers, Congress banned onion futures in 1958. A later study found onion prices were more stable while the futures market was open. The students' "For Our Futures" campaign is now calling for the ban to be lifted. #freetheonions"
